Assalamualaikum
Recently i noticed that time seem to pass so fast. It's going to be another weekend tomorrow, which would signify the end of my third week in surgery posting. OH MY GOD! I don't want this posting to end so fast actually as i guess this is the best posting ever. Why did i say it? Because you got only male lecturers here (as surgeons are mostly male, i never found a female one yet ). Plus, the teaching surgeons are so incredibly hot. Alas, once you got money and status on your hand, you would own the hearts of fragile girls lah. The bonus is, they are so superbly understanding, patient and kind towards us the students. We never get shouted yet like many of my friends in other postings had experienced. But when it comes to clerking the patients, ward round and operation theater, we are lacking in those. The beds in wards mostly unoccupied, and you wouldn't get the best chance to follow the ward rounds due to blooming number of house officers. Even the HO had to fight over the space even to see the patient's bed during ward rounds :0 . I bet the MOs n specialist are already going crazy with the numbers. Then, what going to happen during our time??? Telling you what, in department there is a 'malignancy' that you have to bear with. In case you want to survive, do not ever try to irritate him. We lost our chance to enter the OT respectfully thanks to him. Please be clear that i do not hold any grudge over him ( who am i lah kan ), he is indeed a good doctor who loves the patients (from what i heard ). They say that it is not necessary for undergraduate students to enter the OT. The dean was okay with it. And i think i am okay with it though i was eager at first when it comes to scrubbing part. Hell yes, it is so macho to see the doctors did the scrub in movies. Regarding OT part it is actually quite hard for us to enter also because of null presence of our teaching general surgeons in HSB wards for now. But still after ruling out positive and negative points, if you ask me how was my rating goes for surgery, i would give 65 out of 100! Most marks goes to macho macho lecturers ye. Why 65? well it had a story there :D
And you know what, today is HERNIA day to us! Good luck in revising that thing dear.......tonight!
p/s; i would like to quote a fun finding from a study in an article entitled " sexy surgeons, dull doctors? ", and please don't butt your ass ;)
"We hypothesize that, on average, surgeons are taller and better looking than physicians,"
